Enjoy the beach community of Sandy Point. It is a great place for kayaking from the front yard of the cottage, and there is a boat launch and marina nearby (3/4 of a mile). The vista is enchanting, from the lights of Canada to the north, to Mt. Constitution on Orcas Island to the south. At certain times of the year during annual migrations, whales can be seen in their journeys either north or south. The Silver Reef Casino is five miles from the beach cottage. Crossing the Canadian border at Blain, you can enjoy the many restaurants and shops at White Rock, B.C., a 25-mile trip from the cottage. The beautiful cosmopolitan city of Vancouver is just a bit further north, a drive of 60 miles from Sandy Point. (Bring your passports) Other activities in and around Sandy Point include antiquing, hiking, wildlife viewing, biking, golf, tennis, fishing, boating, crabbing, shopping, restaurants, and downhill or cross-country skiing at nearby Mt. Baker. Visit the charming waterfront tours of La Conner, known for the tulip festival in April, the waterfront towns of Birch Bay, and Semiahmoo. For antiquing, try Lynden, Bellingham, Burnaby BC, Whiterock BC, or Vancouver BC. The prime outlets are located in Burlington not far from Sandy Point. The Bellingham Mt. Baker area has a wide variety of golf courses and is rated one of the "Best Small Golf Cities" in the nation. In November of 2002 Bellingham was the 7th best "golf city" out of 314 cities. A wonderful place for a romantic weekend for two or a great family reunion week. Rates start at $200.00 per night. Links to local activities:
